Probably 2 new ice dive records as a warm-up
Within the framework of preparations for 9000 meters project, on March 5 2011 we dived to the bottom of Hańcza Lake in Poland one more time - that time under ice!
In short: it was an absolutely beautiful sunny day and a very good ice dive in the Hańcza Lake to the depth of 105 meters. The most serious problem turned out to be... making of a suitable hole in the ice (0.5m thick!), then it was a piece of cake. We started the ascent 7 minutes after we went under the ice and after reaching the depth of 105m, the whole dive took 72 minutes. The beauty of the hole in the ice with sun rays coming through into water, as seen from 20m below, was truly unearthly :-) At the surface we received a warm welcome from the whole support team, plus a group of friends. We would like to thank everybody for their invaluable help, enthusiasm, keeping the company throughout the whole weekend and really professional support :-)
Wojtek Gumiński (Guma) - who probably broke the record of men's rebreather ice diving on the day
Agnieszka Kiela-Pałys - who probably broke the record of women's OC ice diving on the day
